The purpose of this project is to hurricane harden 100 apartments to retain a safe haven for the very-low to low income residents in the event of a natural disaster that reside in South Immokalee. Phase 1 and 2 of the project will consist of re-roofing 4 or 5 roofs with hurricane resistant materials, removing and installation of impact windows. Phase 3 will consist of installing central air conditioner in each apartment when funding becomes available. Funding for Phase 1 and 2 was awarded to Greater Immokalee Front Porch through a sub-recipient Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Initiative from Collier County.
